Trump Administration Weighs New Military Measures Against Iran

(MENAFN) The Trump administration is reportedly evaluating the possibility of initiating another military campaign against Iran while diplomatic negotiations aimed at securing a new accord continue behind the scenes. According to CBS News, no conclusive determination had been reached as of Friday, although strategic preparations for potential action were still progressing within both the US administration and armed forces.

The report also indicated that President Donald Trump abandoned previously scheduled plans to spend the Memorial Day holiday at his golf resort in New Jersey. Instead, he was expected to head back to the White House because of what he referred to as "circumstances pertaining to Government."

In addition, several American military and intelligence officials allegedly altered or withdrew their holiday arrangements as authorities prepared for the possibility of escalating tensions once again. Defense leaders were said to be examining personnel recall procedures at foreign military installations, while troop deployments across the Middle East continued amid concerns over potential Iranian retaliation.

Despite heightened caution, the United States and Iran have mostly refrained from carrying out direct assaults since a temporary ceasefire came into effect in April. That pause has allowed indirect discussions regarding a broader agreement to move forward.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly informed CBS News that Trump remained unwavering in his position that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon. She further emphasized that Washington was ready for every possible outcome should the negotiations collapse.
